Making a Small Flat Work
Our new apartment is much smaller than the old one, so we’re having to rethink everything from storage to furniture placement. Surprisingly, the lack of space isn’t the biggest issue, it’s how the rooms are arranged. I’d like some ideas before we start buying things. Where can I learn more about how proper interior design contributes to a higher quality of life?

Downsizing taught us that a small home isn’t automatically uncomfortable; poor flow is the real problem. Our first setup left the entry blocked, while rarely used items occupied the easiest storage. We measured the walls, kept walkways clear, and chose a narrow shelf instead of adding bulky cabinets. Daily tasks became much less frustrating. While reading about how surroundings influence comfort and routines, I found this Shirin Amin on Medium interesting. It’s a useful starting point before buying anything.
